Krispee Kringles, Red Dog and the End of the World!

Sounds like a wacky name for a packet of crisps, chips or a snack, doesn't it?
Well the temperature rose to 42 degrees Celsius a couple of days before Christmas and Santa (or Father Christmas, as we generally call him) came very close to getting his Yule Tide underpants fried right off his behind!

I imagined him in the outback, driving a four wheel drive sled with Red Dog (if you haven't seen the movie, you must) by his side.

Luckily, the weather was mild to warm on the day and I hope you had as pleasant a day as I did.

To all those who have been following my posts, I apologise for the long sabbatical. Things sometimes happen, some unexpectedly ... and occasionally one has to take a temporary detour. But I'm back, so watch out from now on!

Although i had other plans for my first "return" post, I think it appropriate to mention something about Christmas. Now I realise that some of you may not celebrate Christmas or perhaps in a different way or at a different time. That's fine and doesn't really affect what I wish to share with you.

I remember back when I was a child ... wow! The excitement! The anticipation! And on Christmas day, somehow everything seemed right with the world. In some ways, I guess it's unfortunate that we lose much of that childhood innocence - that "playfulness" and we lose that something when the tide of Christmas has retreated.

A huge fuss is made of the fact that Christmas is a time for giving, sharing and being nice to each other in general. I think that's really great and I'm all for it but what if it was like that all year round?

How cool would that be? Of course we'd have to find something else to do at Christmas time, wouldn't we?

There seems to be so much anger in the world, so much frustration, so much misdirection and poverty. We know there is plenty for all to share so where are we all going? Perhaps the giant asteroid or solar flare or whatever it was that was supposed to take us out, was just a metaphor ... some kind of symbolic gesture for change.

Perhaps it's time to cut away the dead wood from the old world and hand craft a new one. A world where every person feels as though they belong! A world where everyone can contribute their own various talents and gifts - where we can give value to each other and enrich each others lives.

We'd be the better for it and so would this world of ours. Most people just want to be happy, to feel good about themselves and the world around them.

If it is true that we are all somehow connected with each other on a spiritual or energetic level, I think it is time to change the way we look at things and start treating each other better. Whether you adopt the "Love thy neighbour" religious approach or the "Karmic" what goes around - comes around approach, it costs nothing to show a little compassion for others.

Imagine if we followed these simple guidelines;

  • Treat others the way you wish to be treated.
  • Be excited for others when good things happen for them
  • Don't rip anyone off (be as honest in all your dealings as you can)
  • Be grateful for what you already have
  • Let go of resentment and feelings of failure from your past
  • Encourage enthusiasm and passion in others and toward their hopes & dreams
  • Show compassion for those less fortunate
  • Be kind to animals
  • Smile to someone everyday
  • Smile to yourself in the mirror at least once each day
  • Do at least one kind thing for another person each day
  • Do at least one other thing for someone without letting them know
  • Be kind to yourself
  • Nurture your own hopes & dreams
I realised as I was making out the above list (and checking it twice) I could have easily continued. It is quite amazing to think that our lives could change dramatically for the better by simply implementing the items above and integrating them into our lives.

I have always had a fascination with "what's out there", ever since I was a child. Hence, I have started building a website www.fromworldsbeyond.com (which will hopefully be up and running soon) to express that passion.

I find it unimaginable to discount the possibility that life may exist way out there, in the outer reaches of our galaxy ... and amongst the billions of galaxies combined but we must also remember that life exist here on planet Earth and that here ... we are not alone!

Hope you like the post. Be kind to yourself. Back soon so ... watch this space!

P.S Merry Christmas and a safe, happy, healthy & prosperous 2013 to you.
